Sholom is the Ashkenazi pronunciation of Shalom, the Hebrew word for "peace", which also serves as a greeting. The name is used in Orthodox Jewish families, and the Yiddish writer Sholem Aleichem, whose stories inspired Fiddler on the Roof, is its best-known bearer. In the United States Sholom is rare and concentrated in Jewish communities; it peaked at number 2496 in 2020 and ranks number 2749 in 2025.
