Yosef is the Hebrew form of Joseph and means "he will add", after Rachel's words in Genesis that God would add another son to her. It is the standard spelling in Israel and in observant Jewish families in the United States, where it sits alongside Chaim and Moshe. Yosef has been in the US top 1000 since 2001, was number 709 in 2015 and ranks 665 in 2025 after a peak of 606 the year before.
