Shalom is the Hebrew word for "peace", also used as a greeting and a farewell, and it shares its root with Solomon and Salome. As a given name it is found chiefly in Orthodox Jewish families, where the Yiddish form Shulem is also common. In the United States Shalom has remained steady but rare: number 2854 in 2000, a best rank of number 1603 in 2021 and number 1725 in 2025.
