Valentino is the Italian form of the Latin Valentinus, from valens, meaning "strong" or "healthy", the name behind Saint Valentine and Valentine's Day. Silent film star Rudolph Valentino and fashion designer Valentino Garavani gave it a romantic, glamorous image. In the United States Valentino entered the top 1000 in 2008 and has risen slowly but steadily from the 670s in 2015 to number 444 in 2025, its best rank so far.
