Valen is a short form of Valentine and Valentin, which come from the Latin valens and mean "strong" or "healthy". Stripped of its ending it fits the current taste for two-syllable boys' names like Jalen and Kalen while keeping the romantic echo of Saint Valentine. Valen has climbed in the United States from number 2562 in 2015 to number 1619 in 2025, its best rank so far.
