Susie is the pet form of Susan, the English version of the Hebrew Shoshannah, which means "lily" and is linked to the lotus or rose in some readings. Susan was a top 10 name in the 1950s and Susie its universal nickname, so today it carries a warm, retro charm. As a name in its own right Susie has been stable for decades, ranking number 1742 in 2000 and number 1922 in 2025.
