Rosie is the English pet form of Rose, from the Latin rosa, and simply means "rose", the flower of love and beauty. During World War II the poster figure Rosie the Riveter turned the name into a symbol of American women's strength. As a name in its own right Rosie entered the US top 1000 in 2013 and has climbed every year since, from number 775 in 2015 to 283 in 2025.
