Ezra is a Hebrew name meaning "help" or "helper", borne by the scribe and priest who led the Jews back from Babylonian exile and gave his name to a book of the Bible. Poet Ezra Pound kept it visible in the 20th century. Once a rare biblical pick at number 430 in 2000, Ezra entered the top 100 in 2015, peaked at thirteenth in 2024 and ranks twentieth in 2025.
