Asher is a Hebrew name meaning "happy" or "blessed", the eighth son of Jacob and the ancestor of one of the twelve tribes of Israel. Long a rare Old Testament pick, it became a favorite of the 2010s thanks to its soft sound and upbeat meaning. Asher stood at number 578 in 2000, reached the top 100 in 2014, peaked at twentieth in 2022 and 2024 and ranks twenty-eighth in 2025.
