Azriel is a Hebrew name that means "God is my help" or "my help is God", from ezer, help, and El, God; it appears a few times in the Old Testament and is also the name of an angel in Jewish tradition. Its sound fits with Ezekiel and Uriel, and the fantasy romance series A Court of Thorns and Roses, with its character Azriel, has given it a boost among younger parents. Azriel entered the US top 1000 in 2021 and has risen every year since, from number 924 to number 529 in 2025, its best rank yet.
