Eesa is an English transliteration of the Arabic Isa, the name by which Jesus is known in the Quran; like Jesus it goes back to the Hebrew Yeshua, meaning "God saves" or "the Lord is salvation". The double-e spelling is common among South Asian Muslim families in Britain and the United States. Eesa has sat between number 1980 and 2250 for most of the last decade and reached number 1855 in 2025, its best rank so far.
