Yusuf is the Arabic and Turkish form of Joseph, a Hebrew name that means "he will add" or "God increases". The Quran devotes an entire chapter to the prophet Yusuf and his story of jealous brothers, slavery and rise to power in Egypt, so the name is loved throughout the Muslim world. In the United States Yusuf has been in the top 1000 since 2003 and has moved from the 570s to number 450 in 2025, its best rank to date.
