Astraea comes from the Greek aster and means "star-maiden" or "starry one". In Greek mythology she was the virgin goddess of justice who left the earth at the end of the Golden Age and was placed among the stars as the constellation Virgo; English poets used the name for Elizabeth I. Very rare until recently, Astraea has risen from number 7015 in 2015 to number 1796 in 2025, its highest rank on record.
