Calliope is a Greek name that means "beautiful voice", from kallos, "beauty", and ops, "voice". In mythology she was the muse of epic poetry and the mother of Orpheus; in America the word also names the steam organ of carnivals and circuses. Once far too exotic for the charts, Calliope entered the US top 1000 in 2016 and has climbed every year since, reaching number 451 in 2025, its best rank so far.
