Andromeda is a Greek name usually explained as "ruler of men" or "mindful of men", from aner, man, and medomai, to think of or rule. In myth Andromeda is the Ethiopian princess chained to a rock for a sea monster and rescued by Perseus; she lives on as a constellation and as the galaxy nearest our own. Andromeda peaked at number 2049 in 2022 and ranks number 2327 in 2025.
