Ares is the name of the Greek "god of war", the son of Zeus and Hera, whose Roman counterpart is Mars. The name itself is of uncertain origin and is usually linked to the Greek word are, meaning "bane" or "ruin", which suits the fierce god. In the United States Ares entered the top 1000 in 2013, shot up from number 722 in 2015 to 290 in 2025 and stands at its highest rank so far.
