Abdias is the Latin and Greek form of the Hebrew Obadiah, which means "servant of the Lord" or "worshipper of Yahweh", the name of a minor prophet whose book is the shortest in the Old Testament. The form Abdias is used in Spanish, Portuguese and French Bibles, which is why it appears mainly in Hispanic families in the United States. It stood at number 5588 in 2000, reached number 2551 in 2016 and ranks number 2884 in 2025 with 43 births.
