Abdiel is a Hebrew name that means "servant of God" and appears briefly in the First Book of Chronicles. John Milton made it famous in Paradise Lost as the one angel who refuses to join Satan's rebellion, "faithful found among the faithless". In the United States Abdiel is used chiefly by Hispanic families; it entered the top 1000 in 2008, peaked at number 504 in 2019 and ranks number 607 in 2025.
