Elias is the Greek and Latin form of Elijah and means "my God is Yahweh", the name of the Old Testament prophet. It is the standard form in German, Scandinavian, Greek and Finnish, and in the United States it reads as the softer, more international cousin of Elijah. Elias stood at number 242 in 2000, entered the top 100 in 2015 and reached thirteenth place in 2025, a new high.
