Matias is the Spanish, Portuguese and Finnish form of Matthias, the apostle chosen to replace Judas, and like Matthew it means "gift of God", from the Hebrew Mattityahu. The accentless spelling is especially common in Latin America. Matias entered the US top 1000 in 2004 and has risen briskly, from number 459 in 2015 to a peak of number 159 in 2024 and number 170 in 2025.
