Yahya is the Arabic name of John the Baptist, who appears in the Quran as a prophet; the form is usually connected to the Arabic root for "to live" and read as "he lives", while the Hebrew Yochanan behind it means "God is gracious". It is used across the Muslim world and by Muslim families in the United States. Yahya hovered around number 950 for years, entered the top 1000 for good in 2022 and reached number 616 in 2025, its best rank so far.
