Sora is a Japanese name that means "sky"; in Korean the same sound is the word for a conch shell. American parents know it from anime and from the hero of the Kingdom Hearts video games, and many simply hear it as a fresh cousin of Sara and Nora. Sora ranked number 5133 in 2000, reached its best position at number 1864 in 2023 and stands at number 1959 in 2025.
