Scarlet is the English color word used as a name, a deep "red"; it comes from the Persian saqirlat, a fine cloth, by way of Old French escarlate. The double-t spelling Scarlett, made famous by Scarlett O'Hara and the actress Scarlett Johansson, is far more common, but Scarlet keeps the word itself. Scarlet entered the US top 1000 in 2006, peaked at number 370 in 2013 and ranks number 510 in 2025.
