Faye is an English name usually explained as the Middle English word fay, "fairy", though it may also be a short form of Faith. It was a glamorous name of the 1920s and 1930s and belongs to the actress Faye Dunaway. Faye returned to the US top 1000 in 2014 and has risen almost every year since, from number 930 to number 515 in 2025, after a peak of number 500 in 2023.
