Sarah is Hebrew and means "princess" or "noblewoman"; in Genesis it is the name God gives to Abraham's wife, the mother of Isaac. It has been among the most used girls' names in the English-speaking world for three centuries and was a top 10 name in America throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Sarah still ranked fifth in 2000, then slowly gave way to newer favorites and sits at number 90 in 2025, still inside the top 100 as it has been every year this century.
