Maizy is a phonetic spelling of Maisie, the Scottish pet form of Margaret via Mairead, so at its root it means "pearl". Maisie has been a hit in Britain for two decades, and American parents have adopted it in several spellings, with Maizy evoking the golden color of maize. Maizy reached number 1886 in 2024 and holds number 1899 in 2025, almost its best rank so far.
