Maizie is a spelling of Maisie, the Scottish pet form of Mairead, the Gaelic version of Margaret, which comes from the Greek for "pearl". The z spelling gives the vintage nickname a bit of a modern twist and avoids confusion with the word maize. Maizie climbed from number 2396 in 2015 to number 1027 in 2023 and entered the top 1000 for the first time in 2025 at number 901.
