Lucca is a spelling of Luca, the Italian form of Luke, which goes back to the Greek Loukas, "from Lucania", and is popularly linked to the Latin lux, "light"; the double c matches the Tuscan city of Lucca. The spelling has been growing in the United States with the general boom of Italian-sounding names like Enzo and Matteo. Lucca entered the top 1000 in 2012 and has climbed to number 425 in 2025, its best rank yet.
