Kayson is a modern American coinage that pairs the fashionable Kay- opening with the -son ending of Jason, Mason and Grayson, so it is usually read simply as "son of Kay"; it is also treated as a respelling of Kason and Cason, which trace back to the English surname Cason. Its appeal is pure sound: it fits with Kayden, Jaxson and Kaison. Kayson entered the US top 1000 in 2009, has climbed from number 434 in 2015 and ranks number 264 among boys' names in 2025, its highest rank so far.
