Mason is an English occupational surname for a "stoneworker" or "builder in stone", from the Old French masson. It became a first name in the United States in the 20th century and took off in the 2000s. Mason ranked number 64 in 2000, shot up to number two in 2011, stayed in the top 10 until 2019 and has settled to number 39 among boys in 2025.
