Jibril is the Arabic form of Gabriel, from the Hebrew Gavri'el, which means "God is my strength". In Islam Jibril is the archangel who brought the revelation of the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad, which makes the name common throughout the Muslim world. In the United States Jibril is rare and used in Muslim families; it stood at number 3031 in 2000, peaked at number 2021 in 2009 and ranks number 2780 in 2025.
