Mikail is the Turkish and Arabic form of Michael, from the Hebrew Mikha'el, a rhetorical question that means "who is like God?". In Islamic tradition Mikail is the archangel who oversees rain and provision, which makes the name common from Turkey to South Asia. In the United States Mikail is rare and used mainly in Muslim families; it peaked at number 2459 in 2016 and ranks number 2742 in 2025.
