Ishaq is the Arabic form of Isaac, the son of Abraham, and like the Hebrew Yitzhak it means "he will laugh" or "he laughs", after Sarah's laughter at the promise of a son in old age. Ishaq is honored as a prophet in the Quran and is used across the Muslim world. The name has moved from number 3047 among US boys in 2015 to number 2814 in 2025, its best rank so far.
