Ezriel is a variant of Azriel, a Hebrew name meaning "God is my help", borne by several minor figures in the Old Testament. The E spelling brings it closer to Ezra and Ezekiel, which has helped it with American parents who like biblical names with a modern edge. Ezriel has moved up from number 2876 in 2015 to number 1893 in 2025, its best rank so far.
