Eliab is a Hebrew name meaning "God is father" or "my God is father". In the Bible it belongs to the eldest brother of David, the tall young man whom Samuel first took for the future king before God pointed to the shepherd boy. In the United States Eliab is used mostly by Hispanic families: it stood at number 4644 in 2000, climbed to number 1723 in 2022 and ranks number 2491 among boys' names in 2025.
