Brycen is a modern American elaboration of Bryce, which goes back to Saint Brice of Tours and the Latin Bricius, a name of uncertain Celtic origin often explained as "speckled" or "freckled". The added -en gives it the sound of Bryson and Jayden, and it belongs to the same early-2000s wave. Brycen was number 792 in 2000, peaked at number 318 in 2011 and has eased down to number 868 among boys in 2025.
