Bryce is a Scottish surname derived from the Celtic name Brice, which is usually explained as "speckled" or "freckled", from the Welsh brych. Saint Brice, a bishop of Tours in the 5th century, carried the name through medieval Europe, and Bryce Canyon in Utah gives it an American ring. Bryce ranked number 92 in the United States in 2000, left the top 100 shortly afterward and ranks number 357 in 2025.
