Avi is a Hebrew name that means "my father" and serves as a short form of Avraham, the Hebrew form of Abraham, as well as of names such as Avigdor and Avishai. In Israel it is an everyday given name in its own right, and Jewish American families have carried it into wider use. Avi joined the US top 1000 in 2020, reached number 720 in 2022 and ranks number 832 among boys in 2025.
