Augustin is the French and German form of Augustine, from the Latin Augustinus, a diminutive of Augustus, and means "venerable" or "majestic". Saint Augustine of Hippo, the great early Christian thinker, spread the name across Europe, and the city of St. Augustine in Florida bears it too. In the United States Augustin has stayed outside the top 1000 for decades and climbs to number 1743 among boys' names in 2025, its best rank in the data.
