Arleth is a modern name used mainly in Mexican and Mexican-American families, a respelling of the French Arlette, which is usually explained as a diminutive of a Germanic name element meaning "eagle" or as a form of Charlotte, "free woman". Arlette was the mother of William the Conqueror, and the Spanish-language telenovela world helped spread the -eth spelling. Arleth entered the US top 1000 only in 2021 and has shot up from number 1225 in 2020 to number 269 among girls' names in 2025.
