Ximena is the Spanish feminine form of Jimeno or Ximeno, a medieval Iberian name of uncertain origin that is usually explained as a form of Simon, "he has heard", or linked to the Basque word for "son". Doña Jimena, wife of the Castilian hero El Cid, is its most famous bearer. In the United States Ximena is used almost entirely by Hispanic families: it entered the top 1000 in 2001, peaked at number 118 in 2018 and ranks number 183 in 2025.
