Amiya is used in two traditions: in the United States it is mainly a modern spelling in the Amaya and Amiyah family, while in Bengali and Sanskrit it is a name that means "nectar" or "delightful". The American form rode the wave of -iya names in the 2000s. Amiya stood at number 936 in 2000, peaked at number 624 in 2009, was still number 703 in 2015 and ranks 1809 in 2025 after leaving the top 1000.
