Amiel is a Hebrew name, in the Bible Ammiel, that means "God is my kinsman" or "people of God", from am, people, and El, God. Several minor figures carry it in the Old Testament, among them one of the twelve spies Moses sent into Canaan, and the name is used in Israel as well as among Filipino and Latin American Catholic families. In the United States it has risen slowly from number 4399 in 2000 to number 2645 in 2025, its best rank so far, with 49 boys.
