Amia is a modern name of uncertain origin, usually explained as a blend of Amy and Mia or as a form drawn from the Latin amata, "beloved". Many parents also hear it as a shortened Amaya. Amia entered the US top 1000 in 2013, peaked at number 708 in 2014 and has slipped back since; in 2025 it ranks number 1631 with 127 girls.
