Adelynn is a modern American spelling of Adeline, a French diminutive of Adele, which comes from the Germanic word adal and means "noble". The ending -lynn gives the old name the same sound as Brooklyn and Evelyn. Adelynn entered the US top 1000 in 2009 and reached its best rank of number 277 in 2015; since then it has slowly lost ground and stands at number 447 in 2025.
