Adalyn is a modern American form of Adeline, the French diminutive of Adela, from the Germanic adal, so it means "noble" or "of noble kind". It is one of a whole cluster of spellings, Adalynn, Adelyn and Addilyn among them, that share the popular -lyn ending and the nickname Addie. Adalyn entered the US top 1000 in 2007, peaked at number 132 in 2015 and has slipped to number 260 among girls' names in 2025.
