Zubayr is an Arabic name, usually explained as "strong" or "brave", from the same root as the word zubr. It is best known through Zubayr ibn al-Awwam, a companion of the Prophet Muhammad and one of the ten promised paradise, which keeps the name in use across the Muslim world. In the United States it had fewer than five births in 2000, climbed from number 5745 in 2015 to number 2882 in 2025, its best rank so far, with 44 births.
