Zubair is an Arabic name usually explained as "strong" or "brave", a diminutive form of a word for a powerful man. Zubayr ibn al-Awwam, a cousin and close companion of the Prophet Muhammad, made it an honored name throughout the Muslim world, especially in South Asia. In the United States Zubair ranked number 5917 in 2000, moved past number 3000 in the 2020s and reaches number 2538 in 2025, its best rank so far.
