Zackary is a variant spelling of Zachary, which comes from the Hebrew Zekharyah and means "God remembers". In the Bible the name belongs to a prophet and to the father of John the Baptist. The spelling with ck followed Zachary's boom in the 1990s: it ranked number 250 in 2000, peaked at number 244 in 2001, fell out of the top 1000 in 2019 and stands at number 1513 in 2025.
