Zachariah is an English form of the Hebrew Zekharyah and means "the Lord remembers" or "God has remembered". The Bible has several bearers, among them the prophet Zechariah and the father of John the Baptist; Zachary is the shorter, more common form. In the United States Zachariah ranked number 374 in 2000 and has settled into the middle of the chart at number 538 among boys' names in 2025.
